Paper Chase 2 for Country View Crafts

As our first anniversary for Country View Crafts is drawing to a close I am excited to share my second DT sample for the month which is a vintaged mini album using the French Industrial paper stash and a multitude of other snippets from Tim Holtz products and lots of other scraps that fitted into the overall shabby/vintage/distressed effects I was trying to achieve. It is where I have used the Playing Cards I showed for my first DT piece for this challenge.
Hope you have got a cuppa in your hand because there are loads of photos.
P1160573
I wanted to create a mini album that would give me space to grow as I filled it and lots of secret places to hold photographs.
P1150965
P1150968a
These are the book pages and papers that covered them and the brown hinges are the mechanism that gave me enough space to add lots of layers once the book was made.
P1150970 P1150972
Here you can see the outside of the hinges once they have been inserted and then covered with a spine made of thick paper and stamped with picket fence distress paint.
P1150973 P1150976
A birds eye view shows the way the hinges stick out from the pages creating that ability to ‘stretch’ once layers and embellishments are added.
So although I made the album neatly, the layouts and collages became very shabby indeed, quite a contrast to the more formal beginning. These are all the pages singly and together showing how the altered playing cards became flaps to hide photos.
P1160547
P1160548
P1160549
Pages 1 and 2 – that's a little handmade envelope on the left’
P1160550
P1160551
P1160552
Pages 3 and 4 – the right hand side has a band to tuck photos under.
P1160553
P1160554
P1160555
Pages 5 and 6 – the piece on the right with the quote on is also a mini page.
P1160556
P1160557
P1160558
Pages 7 and 8 – again the whole piece on the right lifts as a flap.
P1160559
P1160560
P1160561
Pages 9 and 10 – the attendance certificate is a hideaway for a pull out mat.
P1160562
P1160563
P1160564
Pages 11 and 12 – the bingo flap lifts up
P1160565
P1160566
P1160567
Pages 13 and 14 – the pocket on the left has concertina edges so that you can stuff lots of small memorabilia etc. inside of it.
P1160571
P1160568
So there we are a little mini album measuring 16 x 11 cms. All I need to do now is get it filled with photos lol.
If you haven’t had a chance to enter the challenge I hope you manage to before the end of the month and celebrate our paper anniversary.
Have a fabulous weekend whatever activities you have got planned or just relax and have some chill time.

Thanks for stopping by.
hugs {brenda} x0x

Hi Brenda. Wow! So much to see...and so many gorgeous pages, each one a work of art. The playing cards as highlights look fantastic. I think my favourite one is the No. 4 page, but all of them are so interesting. You must have really enjoyed making this as it shows in every page.
