Workshop at Art of Craft

For my card making ladies my first workshop for 2014 will be ‘Cards from Scraps’ trying to use up some of that huge box of patterned papers we all seem to have.
I have designed 5 cards from which the class can choose to use as design inspiration and they all follow a shabby vintage style.

Card 1 uses those scraps layered up with a corrugated card heart painted, stamped and tied with string. I have a box of die-cuts that have been left over from other projects so it was good to make a dent in these too. The little butterfly was punched from the paper the sentiment was stamped onto. (Stamp from Stampin’ Up).

Card 2 is a bit more vintage in style again with layers of patterned and plain papers but also using scraps of different coloured plain and patterned papers to die-cut two doily shapes. The flower was die-cut from some old music score paper (I collect music books from charity shops to use) and a couple of flourish die-cuts to add further interest.

Card 3 used three patterned papers for the background, I dragged white emulsion paint around the edges using an old credit card with some baker’s twine and a shabby bow added. The flowers were cut from three different patterned papers that toned really well together and I used my fingers to edge them with white emulsion paint. A stamped sentiment, a small piece of trim and a Martha Stewart punched butterfly finish it off.

Card 4 has been made using a seed packet front from the Tilda Garden Party paper stack, there are about 16 of these on one 12 x 12 page, so they go a long way. Again layered onto scraps adding a piece of hessian, a downloaded butterfly (and again I have a small box of these), a computed generated sentiment and some little pearlidoodle drops.

Card 5 uses a dress form cut from a Bo Bunny paper (I remember buying this when in California and out shopping with Terry – I think we both bought the same sheet). Again I dragged white paint around the edges of the background piece and then punched borders, stamping, bunting and a bow finish this one off.

My local workshops are held at The Art of Craft, Farnborough Hants and all details can be found by clicking the Classes Schedule above.
