UPA - Eclectic Elements Column 2 - Botanical Bunting

2012_June Banner

This is the year of bunting, it has been everywhere in the shops in the UK, but particularly with the Union Jack on it to celebrate our dear Queen's Diamond Jubilee (what an amazing weekend it was and a fabulous concert outside Buckingham Palace).  We also have the Olympics being held in London this summer - the irony is that I will be in the USA for alot of that time.

My bunting is to fit in with the Unruly PaperArts botanical theme this month - Buds and Blossoms.

I loved making this and the shabby chic style that evolved.

Do pop over to UPA to see the full version of how I made this on my Eclectic Elements column.

Tuesday Treasures

Welcome to Tuesday Treasures and thanks to those who are joining in.

No 'make' from me today - only photos and some special ones all from the Isle of Wight Festival at the weekend.

Now I know the TV coverage only talked about the rain and the mud and I felt very sorry for those who were camping as it must have been awful in the rain on Thursday, but for us non-campers it really didn't affect us that much. The weather was nothing like the forecasts and in fact apart from some rain over Saturday night, we didn't see any on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday, in fact I have come home with a burnt face from the sun on Sunday. The ground was wet underfoot and very muddy in places but not enough to spoil the weekend.

See - it was cool as the sun went down and then colder at night, but we had some lovely sunshine.

Bruce Springsteen headlined and was AMAZING, finishing off with his 'Born in the USA set'

The Big Wheel looked fabulous at dusk.

The next few are my Tuesday Treasures
This guy is called Terry Reid, I doubt anyone has heard of him.

Terry lived locally when I was a child and teenager and played at my Youth Club a couple of times when I was about 16 and really influenced my music style. I loved his voice and of course in those days living in a small town it was exciting to hear real bands and artists. He joined the Jaywalkers and later he toured with Cream in the USA. He was asked to join the new Yardbirds who became Led Zeppelin, but was committed to touring with Cream - I think his career could have been very different if he had done so.

Terry fell out with Mickie Most his producer and Terry has performed with a number of bands and been on soundtracks for films etc, but is again touring in the UK.
He opened the very first IoW Festival in 1970.

Terry very kindly came to meet me when he heard I came from St.Ives near Huntingdon and we chatted about the area and our memories of it. His Mum still lives in Bluntisham.

(This one must have caught me off guard with that face!!!)
Thanks Terry, it was a great afternoon watching and meeting up with you.

Terry in 1970 on Old Grey Whistle Test.

This is how I remember him - we have both changed enormously.

My other Treasure for this week. Dear Hubby catching up on some sleep during a break on Sunday afternoon.

Please let me know if you have ever heard of Terry Reid and join the Blog Hop with your treasure of the week.

PanPastels - Anything Goes

This little box has been hanging around my desk for ages just waiting to be altered, so I decided to use my PanPastels on it. Firstly I painted it with white acrylic paint and when dry blended magenta, magenta extra dark and white PPs completely over it, inside and out and then sprayed with silver spray and
sparkle.

I stamped the sides and lid and onto some tissue wrap and added some pearls and lace round the sides and lid.

To complete this little box I made rosettes - 5 layers in total, making 3 rosettes and added a little bead on the top.

Come and have some fun with us at PanPastel UK and you could be in with a chance of winning a set of pans and some tools from Your Creativity Store.

If you are reading this on Sunday then I am away at the Isle of Wight music festival. When I finalised the post the long range weather forecast looked like rain, rain and more rain. We don't camp thank goodness, but I will let you know what it was like when I get back. Some great bands on with Bruce Springstein doing a 2 3/4 hour set tonight.

Tuesday Treasures

Tuesday Treasures day and a huge thank you to those who are playing along.

Well following my last TT post when I had seen a smash book made by Sylvia, I have pulled out all the stops and made one for TT this week. In fact I have started another 4 as well lol.

Beware photo heavy - cos I have made lots of double page spreads and added lots of small pages, tags and labels etc.

This is going to be my holiday travel book. I usually come home with a bag full of memorabilia that I have collected and then I don't find any time to scrap any of it. So this time I will be taking my book and glue stick and come home with a book on the way to being completed with the memories of my trip.

The pages were all made by cutting down 12 x 12 papers and card. I have inked, masked and stamped in places and then bound everything together with my Bind-It-All adding in my tags, labels and smaller pages.

I will add titles, pockets and more embellishing as I complete sections, but at the moment I have the structure of the Smash Book made and in the process of making more for the girls as well.

I hope you like my treasure this week.
If you would like to play along and share your treasured piece with me just link your entry below and please also backlink to this post so others can find it too. The last date for entry is Monday 25th June at 7.30 pm BST.

Thanks for stopping by and for sharing your piece if you choose to do so.

Have a fun week.

PanPastels - Summer Time

At PanPastel UK challenge blog this week we want to see your summertime creations. I have made a  'Summer at Dusk' card using PanPastels and Distress inks.

I layered the PPs to create my landscape background using torn card and a punched circle to give me the defining lines between each section. I then inked my stamp with embossing ink and laid PPs over to give me the depth to the flowers, next I stamped with different DIs to dive me the flowers in the foreground.

Lastly I used my TH water brush and DIs to paint in some flowers and leaves finishing off with some tiny stamps to fill in the gaps.

I am quite pleased with the look of this sunset - even though my husband told me it looked as if there was a forest fire in the distance LOL.

If you join us this week you will stand a chance of winning a fabulous et of PanPastels from our great sponsor at Your Creativity Store. Have fun with summer colours/images and link to the challenge so we can come visit you.
