Practising Tim's 12 Tags of 2013 - May

I'm back again.

At last I have now been able to have a play at Tim's May tag. You can find all the details HERE on Tim's blog if you haven't already tried it for yourself yet. I love the way the rub-ons resist the distress stains but I didn't achieve the look I wanted, for instance I didn't get the mottling effects and the colours didn't blend as much as I would have liked them to, so you will see in a couple of days time that I had another go at this one.

Tag - Capture Life's Moments

I didn't have the enamelled tag so I used a large metal brag and gave it several coats of picket fence DP with a remnant rub in the middle. The clock was also given a coat of the same paint and then black stazon rubbed over the top to make the numbers and outline stand out more.

Once completed the rubs had resisted the stains and left some white areas but they didn't look balanced so I used a trick I had found worked so well on my second tag (to be seen in a couple of days), you'll see what I mean when I publish that post.

I also made this into one of my extended tags, which seem to have become a bit of a signature now, I love the extra size they give me to frame the tag and to provide additional room at the bottom that adds to the space I can use.

It was a great day again with Andy Skinner at the Stamp Attic finishing our books to show the techniques we have learnt with him over the past couple of months. I shall see him again at The Craft Barn on Friday where we are doing a Gelli Plate workshop.

I hope you have had a great day, the weather has been fabulous hasn't it?

Thanks for popping by.

Bling it at PanPastel UK

Good morning and happy Sunday, hope it's a good one for you. This is the first of two scheduled posts today as I am off to The Stamp Attic for an Andy Skinner workshop finishing off the techniques book we hadn't got made. Later pop back to see the first of my May tags for Tim's tags for 2013.

Today at PanPastel UK we have a new theme and want you to show us some bling.

I created the background very simply by running some white card through an embossing folder and blending PanPastels over the top, it picks out the design so easily. I used Burnt Sienna Tint and a little Raw Umber.

I gathered together some simple papers and embellishments to create the focal point.

The frame was covered with distress stickles dry glitter and then I rubbed raw umber PanPastel over the top. The sentiment is one of the Tim Holtz remnant rubs.

I will be back later with my second of Tim's tags of 2013 entries. See you then.
