Distressed, vintage collage.

 In 2025 Take A Risk

Just playing with a small panel to use some of the new stamps I bought well before Christmas that I haven't got to yet. I used new card that didn't allow me to pull the colours out of the distress inks but even so still quite happy with the finished effects,

The panel was just blended, dipped, dripped and dried with the same colours and dried.

I stamped the typewriter and cut it out ....

 ..... as well as the 25 and words ready to put a collage together. 

At this point i decided to add some 49 and Market rub-ns, I just love how they seem to melt into the paper they are so easy to use.

I punched out the white star on the blue background for the tiny hardware head and glued it in and gave it a covering of glossy accents.

I gathered some snippets together and cut a side tab and stamped it as well as second generation stamped onto the panel as well. I then spattered with the white paint.

It then just all came together and is ready to add to my Tim Holtz shabby-vintage panel journal.

 Pen and Ink sketches on distress ink backgrounds with collage

CREATE

During the Pandemic I did very little art but as we came out of it I started drawing some flowers and also some pen and ink flower shapes as silhouette sketches. I started to create collages with both and a few have been mounted in black sketchbooks. The dates of these begin at 7th Feb 2020. So as I have a number completed and a number of small silhouettes ready to use I thought it would be a good opportunity to record them here and perhaps share them to social media. 

Here is the first one and the title word gives the background to my motivation completely. There was I wanting to get creating and making particularly with my own drawings and at the time the silhouettes fitted the bill.

I used an old die cut.......

... and some gold foil....

.... and enjoyed putting the collage together.

Glitter, glitter everywhere Happy New Year

 Shabby Sparkly Christmas Card

Silent Night, Holy Night.

All is calm, all is bright.

Let's hope that is so for the new year.

I have been using up supplies and going OTT with sparkle and gold but I love it.

A dip and drip background from my left over box

Some tim holtz tissue wrap added using collage medium and applied a gilded accent.

Used stencil to add grit paste and added distress glitter whilst it was still wet. When it was dry I gently brushed off any excess. 

I found a moon that had been made last year for a project where I'd dipped and dripped distress inks, punched the circle and covered it with rock candy glitter.

I used up a row of fir trees that had been cut from Tim's sparkle classic card and used coffee archival to highlight the edges.

I found a gold banner in the bits bag and thought I'd go mad with the sparkle, shine and glitter. I added  'silent night' using Tims remnant rubs. The black writing went well with the black text in the background.

Finally I found some gold stars also in the bits bag, I sanded the points to distress them and blended brown distress ink over them and used them to finish the design.

As I was putting the card elements together and mounting on the card I decided to spritz some Fossilized Amber Spray Spritz behind the trees.

Yuletide Holly - Alison Bomber

Mini Yuletide

Getting another Christmas panel posted before the new year with a focal image of a beautiful holly spring by my great friend Alison Bomber.

1. Scrape thin layer of gesso over surface of background card with a palette knife and smooth the centre with a paint brush - dry.

2. Dip sides in puddles of brushed corduroy and dry.

3. Blend ground espresso over the edges.

4. Make puddle of bundled sage - dip, drip and dry.

5. Use a leftover holly die-cut to use as a stencil to create holly images background using the green distress inks.

6. Splatter lightly with white and green paints.

7. Make another distressed background, stamp Alison's mini holly stamp on it.

8. Paint holly image using the distress watercolor pencils.

9. Distress the edges.

10. Create collage using some of the Tim Holtz snippets and paper.

Panel complete.

Peace Christmas Card

 Berry Delicious

Blended pumice stone and hickory smoke distress inks over the card. Made a puddle of each colour and dipped, dripped and dried the distress inks.

I stamped the holly and the berries stamps....

 ....with watering can archival ink ....

.... and stamped the text with coffee archival ink.

Using the watercolour pencils I coloured and painted some of the leaves and all of the berries to make them stand out.

I then grabbed a silver sparkle Sakura Gelly Roll pen and a black unipin pen and added some details.

I found the silver 'Peace', the icicles and greeting in my supplies, added them to the card and mounted onto green cardstock.

This is off to a crafty friend for Christmas

A Winter's Tale - Alison Bomber

 I bought some of Alison's mini stamps in the Country View Crafts Advent sale and I've had fun using this gorgeous image of Star Anise and using it in creating this frame .

Background - a scraped layer of gesso using a palette knife leaving a gap around the edges. Dried, dipped in pumicestone DI, dripped and dried again. Blended gathered twigs around the edges and added some text stamping using hickory smoke.

2nd layer using vellum, tear the edges and stamp with textured stamp from Alison's pressed grasses set, using versamark and embossing powder.

Focal panel - stamped with Alison's Winter Tale stamp in coffee, painted in the image using lost shadow and walnut stain DOs and brown distress watercolor pencils. The image has watery tea dye roughly painted around it and hickory smoke blended around the edges.

The winter greenery was die-cut with white card and snow-tex daubed over it for texture,

I found the snowflakes (which are glued to the underside of the frame) and icicles already cut in a bag ..........

..... and used those with the other miscellaneous oddments to add interest to the frame.
