Crafting from the sofa #1 - Wildflowers panel

I have a new, hopefully short, series of projects specifically as the title says. Here's my project today but please be aware I'm not at my desk and I certainly haven't got many supplies around me ........

I'm having to craft on the sofa and if you're not friends with me on Facebook you may not have heard that I broke two bones in my right leg two weeks ago. I've been walking three or four times a week since January trying to keep fit(ish) and certainly didn't expect to take a tumble on a crumbly path and head straight down a bank towards a ditch. See those two small bush stems growing up? On the way down my right foot got caught on them and my weight went straight through that leg - ouch!

So now I am in a cast and during the day my leg has to be kept up and I can't put any weight on it.

But with a very helpful, sensitive and 'tired' hubby (yes tired running around after me bless him), I have been able to gather a few supplies around me and have been determined to try and keep myself creating and making, albeit it simply.

No tutorial today, I just got out the journal I have been making for this months Country View Crafts challenge sample that was published in the last post and decided to do a section in it and call it 'Crafting from the Sofa' hence the title of this post.  I have been making a few more panels and will be recording them here at Bumblebees and Butterflies.

This was made using some media paper dipped into watery distress oxides, Tim Holtz stencil and butterfly stamp and some of the lovely wildflowers that had been cut for another project and not used.
The sentiment from Tim's Small Talk stickers is just perfect - I'm luckily not in pain and being in the conservatory during the day means I can look out on the garden. Yes I would like to be out in it - but hopefully it won't be long.

Here's the panel added to the midori notebook in the journal.

The photos were taken on my iphone 7+ and adjusted in Snapseed before importing over to my laptop and resized in a very early version of Photoshop Elements, but the process worked.

I have an appointment at the fracture clinic tomorrow and this cast will be removed and my leg reassessed as to what the next step is (excuse the pun). I'll let you know soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

hugs Brenda xxx

Wow...sympathy on the breakage! That must have been a scary fall...we expect the bushes to slow us down but those two were a bit keen. Hope the bones heal well and quickly.
Love the panel...which perhaps wouldn't have held the same emotional link if not for the circumstances(maybe there should be a pic of hubby on that page too as your knight in shining armour) XXX

Oh my, sorry to read about your fall, I've stopping going into Facebook so I hadn't seen your post. It looks like you had a nasty tumble. I do hope you will be able to get a bit more mobile after the assessment. The piece you created from the sofa looks fantastic, its amazing what we can do with limited supplies and your husband sounds a gem looking after you so well.
Take care of yourself.

Take care Brenda...I hope things get better soon. I still remember our meet last year this time! The visit to the National Gallery will always remain dear to me. Good to know that you were able to gather some supplies to work from the sofa. That should definitely cheer you up for some time. Hugs, Rupa.

I can totally relate Brenda after just coming off a broken knee from a fall (even with my walker) as well and no walking for six weeks. Such a long six weeks. Just able to take walks again. Trying to work up to my two miles a day. Love your page. I just bought Ellen's die so it is time to make a book - or two, or three, or four. Love all the ideas you have posted about how to decorate the journal. thanks as always for sharing.

Oh no, horrible fall - I hope your bones heal fast!
So sorry to hear this!
A wonderful panel to decorate the journal!Just brilliant!
The good about this situation is that you will have enough time to
think about new creations and do nice little experiments with your art!
I have had a double fracture of the lower leg in 2009 and have still the
titanium rod implant with me, since I was a coward and didn't let them remove it again.
Best wishes for fast recovery Brenda!

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow. I'm off on my travels tomorrow visiting my sister in France. Trying to think of a few things that I can take in my hand luggage for when the crafting urge takes me. X Joanne

Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope everything heals well. I broke a bone in my foot last year walking from my kitchen table to the sink because my foot had fallen asleep. It's crazy how quickly an accident can happen. Your journal page looks awesome. I just bought those wildflower dies and am looking forward to using them.

Oh Brenda, I couldn't believe it when Jennie told me the story, ouch indeed (by the way, you have beautiful feet lol). I think I need to make sure I check FB more often, I can't believe this happened two weeks ago and I only found out now :o(.

This is just beautiful and I love the whole idea of "crafting from the sofa" And yes you are so right, I keep making inserts until that die finally arrives. xxxxx

Hi Brenda, this exercise thing can be very dangerous Lol! I still walk occasionally but we have had some interesting moments even though we always walk on paths but my worst one was slipping in the mud, think my pride was hurt the most and feeling the wet mud all day. So I do the Gym mostly now. I think your hubby is being very patient as I can imagine he will have plenty to do keeping you happy on the sofa! I am guessing you must have had your camera on when you slipped if the photo is for real, hope it survived Lol! Any way take care and hope you're back on your feet soon. Sending hugs, Angela xXx

Ah, Brenda I am very sad to hear that, unfortunately it happens even to the fittest girls ( a friend of mine, one week ago). Your card is lovely and beautiful, great use of all these leftovers from previous projects. Looking at the bright side, from today no cast, so hopefully the worst is over, get well, Brenda :-)

Oh Brenda.....how awful for you !!! It sounds pretty bad but knowing you you will make the best out of it x your DH is a dream and will take excellent care of you xx our No 1 son fell when walking down a hill at the local beach park, whilst out with his dog and fractured his ankle. He was given a boot to wear instead of a cast. We have been supporting him by walking the dog and getting shopping etc.

Love your journal page and must try this technique...perhaps it will get my mojo back on track xx

Take care and huge hugs.....looking forward to viewing your fab sofa makes
