I have some old papers in my 12 x 12 supplies that are kept beautifully in a proper scrapbook paper box and I decided to dig some out to make Mother's Day cards for my shop space. It seems to have taken over at the moment but I need to get established with selling slightly more commercial things before I think my mixed - media might stand a chance. Yes it's still early days but I want to do anything and everything I can to get it off the ground - any helpful comments are greatly welcomed.
I took some of the papers and cut to size scraping some white chalk paint round the edges.
The flower cards were cut from one of the 12 x 12 pages and I also gathered some shabby seam binding ribbon to use. One lot I left plain pink another lot I dyed using distress inks.
The little Mum brad is one of Tim's and I downloaded one of my own backgrounds into photoshop elements and added the word Mum to it then when it was printed out I punched it with a circle punch to fit the brad size. I had painted the brad with the white chalk paint to make it more shabby.
Here it is in situ.
I am using up a horde of flowers that I have bought over the past few years and hardly dipped into ....
.... and again I painted them with the chalk paint to achieve more of the shabby look.
These are two of the four I made.
Whilst I am sitting writing this post I am wondering if they are selling lol. I'll pop back and let you know at some point.
I hope your week is going well.
Thanks as always for stopping by - I so love having your company.
hugs Brenda xxx

What a fantastic card Brenda! So pretty and the shabby chick looks even elegant here! Masterly!
These are just gorgeous Brenda! I mean, you really can't go wrong with pink for a feminine card. lol. The flower seed packs are fantastic, love these as focal pieces! The background papers are just beautiful and your flower arrangements are stunning. Love the contrast with pop of dark red on the second one. Brilliant! hugs :)
Traumhaft schön, deine Muttertags-Karte, liebe Brenda
Nostalgisch und romantisch, ein Traum.
Herzlichst Sophie
Beautiful card, Brenda!
Wonderful ! Brenda. Lovely use of the papers and flowers - perfect for a special card for Mum. Very clever use of one of your own backgrounds for the 'mum' token- when I first saw it I did wonder if it was a sweet from the tubes of Love Hearts they sell for Mothers day lol.
Sure these will be sellers for any 'Mum' occasion
hugs x

Beautiful cards Brenda, I'm sure they'll sell like hot cakes. I sell my cards for charity in our village hair salon and my best sellers are very simple sympathy cards!

Hi Brenda, lovely card. Anyone would love to receive such a gorgeous work of art. Have a great week, Angela xXx
The card is beautiful Brenda, I'm sure your cards will sell. Word gets round and I think folk like to buy and send something out of the ordinary that is obviously made with care and attention to detail. Also the big plus would be that the card is 'one of a kind' and there aren't others that look the same on the shelf.

Brenda, both cards are stunning - two Mums are going to be very happy to receive these and of course they will sell very quickly! Hugs, Anne xx

Oh wow, I absolutely love these Brenda!! The colors and designs are stunning!! They are shabb-tastic!! They'll definitely sell!! So, so gorgeous!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

A gorgeous design Brenda - love the white painting on the edges, the layers, pretty Mum Brad and lovely ribbon! It's so hard to predict what people will want to buy - some just want inexpensive, some want thin and easily mailable, some want modern and some want vintage - I guess you'll just have to try and figure out the clientele of the shop you have your cards in?
This card is so lovely and romantic, Brenda. And your MixedMedia artworks are amazing, no way!
Brenda, your cards are just marvelous! That rose paper is exquisite! I just love cabbage and old roses! You created such a nice design, both vintage, shabby and they speak LOVE. I am sure these will fly off your shelves!
I wish I could offer up some advise as for selling, but I am working myself into the field as well, and stumbling a bit! Where I live, the folks are not the slight bit interested in mixed media, they seriously like the dollar store garbage! drives me insane! I am reaching out to family and friends who live nearer the bigger cities by showing them my art through FB. If I have any luck, I'll be sure to pass it along!
Hugs, Jackie
and Happy Mother's Day! xx
Tow gorgeous cards Brenda, I'm sure they will be a big seller. Pretty cards like these are always popular and will keep customer's returning for more.
Good luck with the shop.
