I recently did a workshop locally where my lovely group of ladies spent the morning making their own frames using card, wood and plastic. I sadly didn't get any of their finished makes photographed although Joan did send me one of hers with her gorgeous dog Tilly all framed up. So I'll start with this simple design first. I haven't embellished it although I am very tempted to add some more to it but as this is of my daughter and her boyfriend I thought I would leave them to be the stars of the show.
This is simply a greyboard backing painted with gesso and distressed with ground espresso distress ink. I added the Tim Holtz easel to the back.......
... and used his cameo and oval dies to create the frame to go over some simple core'dinations paper backing. I love this photo of them both taken in San Francisco when we were all on holiday together in August.
And here is Tilly, you can see that Joan set her frame in a landscape position whereas I had used a portrait one.
Sorry for the lack of posts at the moment with DT pieces and the Mixology weekend being so near I am struggling for time and it doesn't help when Mr Mojo decides to take himself off and leave me all alone either.
You will be seeing some more frames from me as I am cheating and using them all as individual posts to help keep me going.
I hope you have a great week. and keep warm with the sudden very cold morning frosts and cold snap we seem to be having here in the UK.
hugs Brenda xxx
That frame project is super ! I think your daughter will love this! Joan's frame is lovely as well!
Seriously ... Mr Mojo actually leaves you?!?! I can't believe it. I love these frames. The cameo die is perfect for a frame. Great Christmas gift ideas! And I honestly know how hard it is take your hands off a project and say, "I will add no more." Spot on decision here. The printed paper and the red co'ordinations background is simply perfect for making the photo the star. I love it! What a fun workshop. Wishing you the best with all that you have on your plate now! Hugs -- Mary Elizabeth
Yes, I think where you stopped is perfect!! LOVE the strong reds, they are so complementary (sp?) to this clean design and beautiful framing. Joan's landscape one works fabulously too. Also, very chilly over here! Nicola x
Gorgeous frame Brenda and perfect for Christmas pressies too. Hope Mr Mojo returns soon, no fun when that happens but I find buying some new stuff usually helps ;)
Good evening dear Brenda...I'm so sorry that I didn't get a photo to you...I too have been sooo busy with cards for Dotty's Christmas market. Your workshop was such a wonderful day and I am so delighted with my frames...all will be on show at the market! I think you have a lot on your plate at the mo...sometimes you just need to take a little time off...and go and see what Mother Nature has been up to! There is always inspiration out there, that's what I tend to do, even if it's just a sit in the garden with a cuppa. Take care my dear friend and I am so looking forward to seeing you in early December. Huge hugs xxx
The frame is a super project and would also I think be a good gift idea. Its a lovely family photo Brenda.
