Practising Tim's 12 Tags of 2013 - May

I'm back again.

At last I have now been able to have a play at Tim's May tag. You can find all the details HERE on Tim's blog if you haven't already tried it for yourself yet. I love the way the rub-ons resist the distress stains but I didn't achieve the look I wanted, for instance I didn't get the mottling effects and the colours didn't blend as much as I would have liked them to, so you will see in a couple of days time that I had another go at this one.

Tag - Capture Life's Moments

I didn't have the enamelled tag so I used a large metal brag and gave it several coats of picket fence DP with a remnant rub in the middle. The clock was also given a coat of the same paint and then black stazon rubbed over the top to make the numbers and outline stand out more.

Once completed the rubs had resisted the stains and left some white areas but they didn't look balanced so I used a trick I had found worked so well on my second tag (to be seen in a couple of days), you'll see what I mean when I publish that post.

I also made this into one of my extended tags, which seem to have become a bit of a signature now, I love the extra size they give me to frame the tag and to provide additional room at the bottom that adds to the space I can use.

Supplies used -
Distress Stains - Festive Berries, Wild Homey, Peeled Paint, Weathered Wood. Broken China
Distress Inks - Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry Evergreen Bough, Dried Marigold
Distress Paint - Picket Fence
Archival Ink - Black
Memento Ink - London Fog
Stamp sets - all Tim Holtz - Mini Classics, Classics #2, Classics #3, Way With Words
Remnant Rubs - Elements, Numbers

It was a great day again with Andy Skinner at the Stamp Attic finishing our books to show the techniques we have learnt with him over the past couple of months. I shall see him again at The Craft Barn on Friday where we are doing a Gelli Plate workshop.

I hope you have had a great day, the weather has been fabulous hasn't it?

Thanks for popping by.

Hello Brenda
You are too hard on yourself, I don't care if you have not achieved the mottled look, what is produced here is glorious. Your palette is strong yet it has warmth, your mix of stamps all balance well, along with the metal elements, it makes for a very interesting Tag... Love it.
Smiles:)

Hi Brenda! Thank you so much for your very sweet comments you left on my blog this morning. I'm so glad that you liked the new and improved craft organizer. :) I am glad that I stopped by your blog. Your Tim style tag is awesome! Your work is always so good though; gorgeous choice of colors, style and design on everything that you do. You really should answer our DT call, if you've got the time to devote to it. I think you would be awesome on the DT. The call was announced on the 23rd. There is info about it at Simon Says Stamp and Show on the sidebar, if you're interested. Thank you again for your lovely comments! <3 Candy

Brenda, you know I am loving your Tim tag - much! I battled a little with the rubs, but I love how you used yours! The colors and image choices are fabulous! You are making me jealous that you are so close to Andy to take his classes! Seriously, any trip I make to the UK will be based around an AS class! Hugs dear friend!
