WOYWW #178

Sorry, missed last week again due to grandaughter still being in hospital and I went to visit her again today. This week is half term so I am looking after the two younger ones so that Dad can still work and Mum can have a week at the hospital and give GD some quality time. So with the story coming up here for WOYWW you will see I am busy, busy, busy.

This is a picture of my desk today, I have got no projects in the making, but have just completed my DT piece for the new Crafty Individuals challenge coming up for November. But why is the Sky box on my stamp tubs? And look at the floor and just outside the door - it's a complete mess.

Let me tell you why.

Well it was the early hours of Saturday morning, around 12.30 am, the house was still and quiet as a mouse, when all of a sudden I sat bolt upright in bed and hubby, who hadn't come to bed yet, ran up the stairs in panic. Why? Due to an enormously loud crash, it sounded as if half the house had fallen down. Oh my gosh, what was going on? Indeed what?

I ran to the landing and put the light on, only to find I couldn't see the floor in the office/craft room.
Oh my goodness ........................

I bet you can see what's coming next ....................

The shelves above my workspace had completely come away from the wall and everything, yes everything, had slid off and fallen over the workbench and onto the floor. I couldn't believe the mound it had created - at least four foot tall.

I had to smile about it or else I think I would have cried. Paper, card, boxes, tubs, brushes, markers, glue, paint, yes you name it, it all came a tumbling down. Oh well no more to do than clear the floor so that hubby could get to the shelves and make them safe before going to bed.

Of course I did get told that I had far too much stuff on the shelves and things that were far too heavy too. Yeah I knew that.

So this is what my landing and spare bedroom looked like the next morning. I have almost cleared it, filling tubs and boxes and stacking them in the garage for now. The room will have to be completely gutted and I am going to design a new layout from scratch.
See there is an opportunity in everything if you look for it.

I hope you are having a better time than me at the moment, but we will keep smiling, no use crying over spilt milk.

Happy WOYWW.

hugs {brenda} xox

EEEEEEEEK!!!

That was a Halloween horror story if I ever heard one, yikes, Brenda! But wow, you are going to be SO tidy next week . . .

(Becca's card went postal today, by the way, but it will probably take a while to get there.)

Thank you for stopping by this woyww,

Oh no Brenda, besides the heart attack you must have had at the noise, finding homes for everything and restoring order (if there is such a thing in anyone's craft room?) is a challenge I wouldn't want to undertake, but it will be a good opportunity to tidy !

I am so sorry, Brenda! It is funny though. At first I thought you were just a bit untidy - that sort of mess is normal for me. Colin is always telling me off for overloading shelves, and he has also been woken in the night by an avalanche from my craft room that I have slept through. Speaking from experience though, it is good to make a fresh start on your craft space sometimes, although I know it is not a good time for you to be doing it right now. Good luck!

Oh my goodness what a shock and I thought my mirror falling off the wall today was bad enough! (it didn't I hasten to add, it falls off now and again as it is only on the tiles with a sucker hook). Yep we probably brushed shoulders at Extravaganza, although I am quite short!! Thanks for stopping by. BJ#33 (I'm north east Surrey, how about you?)

I hope your Granddaughter makes a quick recovery.
Why is it that shelves always fall down during the night on when you're just going out? Enjoy your newly designed room when it's ready.

I would of liked a photo of the actual mess (disaster) the shelves would of caused. By the look of things you did have a lot on them. Ah well now you will have to reconsider your space and maybe purchase more cupboards or whatever. I hope nothing was permanatley damaged.

Goodness me, Brenda that must have given you an awful fright. what a time you are having. Still, like you say, a craftroom makeover will be great and really cheer you up once it's done.
I hope your GD is still improving, she'll love having some time with her Mum I'm sure. My thoughts are with you all.

Hi Brenda
Sorry I haven't visited for a wee while.
What a time of it you are having.
First, sorry your GD is in hospital, what a strain on all of you. I hope each day sees an improvement.
Then your studio, I am sure the noise was something else!
Wishes
Lynne

Lord have mercy, child, what hell you are in! First, and most important, I'm sorry to hear about your sweet grandie in hospital and wish all the best with that.

Second, good for you to take this HUGE opportunity to clear out and clean up and create new. I call it the Three Cees. It works if you survive the initial nighttime earthquake and following day's DH wrath.

So ... all systems go! Wish I were nearby to help you!!
