CAS - where are the dividing lines?

Some of you will know that I am making some cards to go in tins as presents with a birthday coming up and a thankyou present that is needed soon. My cards are a mixture of vintage, shabby chic and now CAS - well is it CAS? Because I don't know where the dividing line is?

Less is More is a new challenge blog and the whole idea of this has got me thinking. Their theme this week is pink, black and white - so it fits that.

The glossary on the LIM blog says
Clean & Simple -

A design of card with clean lines, minimal elements, areas of white space and few or no embellishments.

White Space -
An area of the card which has no image, layer or embellishment.
This can be any colour dependent upon the colour of the card blank.

OLC One Layer Card
One piece of card folded in half with no additional layers and minimal embellishments, where the image is stamped directly onto the cardstock.

So my card has been made by using a cuttlebug folder frame and I brushed over it with DI. I cut out the white inserts, stamped, inked and added gems. The outside layer and the frame have got some stickles round them. There is space, there are minimal embellishments, but there is more than one layer.

Now is this CAS or have I gone too far?????? I think it's overdone - but I will enter it just in case.

Have a fabulous week, wherever you are. I hope the weather is being kind(er) to you and if you are tied up in any of the thick snow, floods or fires that are around the world at the moment, my heart goes out to you. I wish you a safe journey through it all and hope that you will be back to normal very soon.

Take care.

Hi Brenda

I love the way you have used the pink as your main colour. I must admit I find this style difficult.

I agree, CAS is not that simple when you don't have clear rules. Oh well, you have a lovely card here and at least it was probably a little quicker to finish. It's snowing again here, but not too much. We didn't get the bad storm last week, just snow. Now it looks like its here for a while...a bit more each day to replace the bit of daily melt. Not as lucky as last year!

Well done for taking the bull by the horns with this card. It looks fab!
Lots of people find difficulty in how much or how little to do... much is down to personal taste, but our blog title can be used as a mantra if you're ever tempted to add too much.
We really appreciate you joining us for our very first challenge and we hope to see you again next week!

I'd say it was a lovely card whatever the definition of CAS. If you look at other cards entered you will see some that are obviously very minimalist CAS and a good few others with a few more embellishments so I reckon you're good to go!

Hi Brenda. Nice job on your CAS cards.

Some cards nowadays have way too much on them and it takes away from the image or sentiment. We all started stamping using CAS once upon a time ago! (wink!)

I think your card is lovely! The focus is the greeting and little embellishment - so it's CAS!!

My persona interpretation of CAS is to have more 'blank' card but having said that I often add embossed in the same card base colour to give some depth.
Your card is great, love the embossed frameThank you for joining us at "Less is More" on our first week, hope you will join in again next week
