PanPastels - Sun, Sea and Sand

This is my DT contribution for our PP challenge this week and I just loved playing with my PanPastels and Crafty Individuals stamps to make this little altered domino book.

I wish I had taken more photos to show you the stages (but I didn't!!!) so I hope you get the gist of it.

  • Cut white card and black sugar paper to size.
  • Used my scoreboard on the black to create the zig-zag (accordion) pages.
  • Blended yellow, blue and green PPs to create a sand, sea and sky effect.
  • Stamped with CI plates 272 and 278 and used a rubber to take some of the background colour out of the images.
  • Painted the images with DIs.
  • Chopped up the images to the size of the book pages and edged them with walnut stain DI.
  • stuck the pieces to the black pages and added gold pen along the edges.
  • Stamped the bunting from CI plate 284, edged with walnut stain and stuck on pages then glued some vintage gold thread across for the string.
  • Made the domino covers using alcohol inks, painted cheesecloth and added shrink plastic shells and sea horse again using CI plate 272.
I added bakers twine to tie it all together but hated it and ended up yanking it out (luckily no damage done). I swapped it for the vintage gold thread I have. Much happier with that.

It would be lovely to see you join in with this challenge at PanPastel UK . You don't have to use PanPastels to have a chance of winning a set of PanPastels from Your Creativity Store.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Inky and Messy at FSC

Welcome to Sunday. We had a big BBQ yesterday and this post is scheduled so I will let you know how I am later.

Today I am sharing my DT piece for Fashionable Stamping Challenges where the theme is inky and messy. Well I got messy with inks, paints, gilding flakes, embossing powder, glue - in fact you name it and it could be on here.

I am also trying to use up scraps and left over pieces of chipboard hence the unusual shape of this.

The background was layered with Eco-Friendly and Fresco Finish paints and heat dried, then edged with Crown chocolate suede paint. The next layers were Walnut Stain and Bundled Sage DIs followed by a wash of Picket Fence DS, both heat set. For the fourth layers I stamped the text and dots with Archival inks and then Fresco Finish painted die-cuts stuck over the top before  misting with Blue Patina and Cappuccino Perfect Pearls.

painted the large butterfly wings in gold and added small book paper butterflies, finally I stamped the bees in black Archival and added some gold pen to their bodies and wings.

I added gilding flakes to the flower heads and butterfly wings. To embellish it I made some rolled roses and sprayed hem with cosmic shimmer and used die cuts for the fence, gate and vine.

Lastly I added some dark brown embossing powder round the edge.

Well have a great day whatever you have planned and I will be back later with my PanPastel DT piece.

Summer Colours

Anything goes with Summer Colours at The Stamp Man

My DT offering for the Stamp Man challenge this week is a framed easel birthday card, Brenda style.

I started by painting the stamped image using distress stains and distress markers, leaving it to dry. I made the chipboard backboard, cutting it to the size I needed for this image and the frame to fit. I used texture paste over the frame, daubing it on using a palette knife and adding wooden and small flower embellishments. When it was dry I painted it all with gesso.

The backing paper is a piece Jill sent me, made using moonglow spritzes. I cut and tore the flower image to size, distressing the edges and using frayed burlap DI on them, then with a glue pen added the Frantage embossing enamels, a ribbon and sentiment.

Lastly I painted the wooden embellishments with Distress Stains and when they were dry added clear crackle paint and I painted the frame with DSs and greeny pearl lustre pigment powder mixed.

The frame was added and a TH easel glued to the back to make a card with a difference.

Supplies
Memory Box Pastry Labels
Wooden embellishments
Distress Markers

Well the air show is nearly finished for another two years, this weekend are the public days and we are having a BBQ tomorrow for friends and family to come and celebrate Ken's and my big birthdays and hopefully see some of the flying from the back garden, if it doesn't rain (again).

Have fun this weekend whatever you have planned.

Tuesday Treasures 100712

Tim's Tag for May

I told Trace at Inkypinkycraft that I needed to get a wiggle on and catch up with Tim's tags, so here is my latest one. More or less like the original which you can see HERE.

I just love the faux porcelain flowers and the half wooden spool.

Enjoy.

PanPastels - Ice-cream Colours

Ice cream colours for PanPastel UK this week.

OK I think Summer is going to pass us by this year, unless we get a sudden heat wave. I can't remember a year when we had so much rain as we have had this past few months.

So I hope this helps us to think about what summer might be like if it were to happen.

I stamped images using Crafty Individuals plate 284 and 131, using Rose Madder Archival ink pad and coloured with pro-markers.

The background is made by sticking down masking tape, tissue paper, a doiley and card letters and numbers then covering with white gesso.
When dry I used some masks and PanPastels, spraying with a fixative before adding anything else.
(I saw something similar to this on the SSS blog and used it for inspiration).

To finish I used the images and added lots of flowers and bits and pieces using PanPastels on the die-cuts and the mould.

If you pop over to the challenge blog to enter this week you will be in with a chance of winning a set of pans and tools from Your Creativity Store.

Have fun whatever you are doing today and I hope it stays dry if you are in the UK.

Tuesday Treasures

Welcome to Tuesday Treasures and I am showing a book I made on Sunday at a class with Lin Brown (Formerly LB Crafts), made with one sheet of 12 x 12 card, Fresco Finish paints and Leandra's (PaperArtsy) fabulous new sewing stamps. (Guess what I have had to order them LOL).

Stamping with brown Memento ink and colouring with Prisma pencils I coloured up the images and displayed them on the pages.

The background pieces are painted, masked and stamped to create these fabulous designs.

I have added some buttons, lace and other embellishments to add dimension and detail.

I didn't get finished during the workshop but came home and worked till 1.00 in the morning to complete it. I was totally inspired by Lin's fabulous sample and just had to get mine done straight away.

My sister should have come with me but is poorly at the moment so Lin very kindly gave me her Vintage sample to do with Chris, so I will be doing another one myself too.

So share your treasure with us this week, this is all about having some fun and hopefully meeting new people in our amazing blogging community.

Link your 'treasure' post using the linky tool provided below and please include a back-link to here so that your visitors can come and join in too. If you copy and paste the code we can share the blog hop with everyone who visits us both.

Have a great week. The Farnborough Air Show starts next week and already the planes are starting to fly in. We are almost under the flight path and get a great view of everything, just a shame there is so much low cloud and rain around again.

Take care.

When several blogs put the same linky list code on their blog, the exact same list appears on each blog.

Blog visitors can submit their entries on any blog that contains the list. The entries will appear on each blog where the list resides.

Blog readers see the same list on each blog, and can HOP from blog to blog seeing that same list of links to follow.

PanPastels - Use a digi

I rarely use a digi, much preferring real rubber, but with the challenge this week at PanPastel UK I had great fun both sourcing and then using a digital image. I found the background frame in my folders (sorry didn't keep the name of where it originally came from) and thought I would love to use this and perhaps I could layer a digital image over it. So next I found the 'Best Friends' image in my files and decided I would try and put the two together and colour with PPs. I made the digi image into a ping file, layered it on top of the frame, resized it and hey presto, just what I wanted.

After I printed it out I painted the image with the PPs (tutorial coming later).

Then cut out the frame and layered it onto some French dictionary paper adding some collage bits with the sentiment....

and also a ribbon.

As I had used a scalloped edge card I just cut around the edge once the dictionary paper had been glued on.

I really love this sweet card.

I hope you will join us at PanPastel UK this week and be in with a chance to win a set of these versatile pastels from Your Creativity Store.

Have a great day.

FSC - Oriental

I rarely make an oriental themed card and find them quite difficult so I chose the red, gold and black which seems to be the most popular colours and some gold embossing powder.

I stamped the flower and embossed with black EP, coloured with metallic promarkers. Having masked it off I stamped the chinese letters - don't know what they say lol, then sprayed with gold sparkle.

The red mount was stamped with a flower border and ep with gold embossing powder and the roughly added gold ep on the other edges. Some mounting, a chinese embellishment and tassle and a black ribbon finished it off.

Phew not my style at all.

Have a great Sunday.

UPA - Eclectic Elements Column 2 - Botanical Bunting

2012_June Banner

This is the year of bunting, it has been everywhere in the shops in the UK, but particularly with the Union Jack on it to celebrate our dear Queen's Diamond Jubilee (what an amazing weekend it was and a fabulous concert outside Buckingham Palace).  We also have the Olympics being held in London this summer - the irony is that I will be in the USA for alot of that time.

My bunting is to fit in with the Unruly PaperArts botanical theme this month - Buds and Blossoms.

I loved making this and the shabby chic style that evolved.

Do pop over to UPA to see the full version of how I made this on my Eclectic Elements column.
