Let's use more words

So today's project is using words again for the challenge at Country View Crafts and Challenges FaceBook page which lasts the whole of January.

Hello Winter

I decided to use the same stamp as I did on my first project but use it in a completely different way, this time it was stamped onto vellum paper.

I used a background that I had made for a frame that was my project for a workshop at CVC before Christmas

plus a photobooth vintage photo, 'Hello Winter' from a set by Creative Expressions and a small flower.

I die-cut foliage, some of which I wanted white and the other pieces were cut from an inked background, coloured randomly with watercolour pencils, washed over and when dry sponged lightly with white gesso to create a wintry effect.

I chose to use the card frame from an Ikea small box frame and later added embossed card to it.

Having cut the strips, I covered the frame and gave it a coat of gesso to fill in the cracks where the strips were glued down.

Once the background and frame were added to the box I adhered all the other elements to finish it off.
I put the foliage together ....

.....and I am really in love with the extra grungy Eucalyptus leaves .....

..... the flower gained an addition, a shabbied medallion inspired by Stacy Hutchinson .....

..... and don't forget the photobooth photograph by Tim Holtz.

Thank you for stopping by.

Spray paints or inks - Tando Creative

I've made a tag for this theme today at Tando Creative.

I used a media board painted with gesso and when dry scraped white modeling paste through a stencil.

These pieces I took from a bits box which were already painted - leftovers from previous projects.

I also grabbed these from another bits box of Tando leftovers to add to the design. As you can see these were not painted or sealed so I started by gluing these to the media board ...

.... and when dry I gave it all a coat of gesso.

Next I sprayed some water based and DecoArt white mister over the surface, dried it and repeated again to give me my base  colours ...

.... and then dribbled some watery media acrylic paints, ....

.... sanded and inked the edges of the board and finished with some splatters of titanium white.

Because the sprays I used were water based they created some lovely mottled effects together when I spritzed them and when I repeated the layer.

Emboss resist Journal Panel

It's my turn over at the Country View Craft Project Blog and I am finishing the month continuing the blues and greens challenge theme with another technique and journal panel.
This is how I left it over there ........

But I wanted to grunge it up some more for my journal so I edged all four sides with raw umber blending it over with a blending tool and foam then I mixed a dirty wash of quinacridone gold and paynes grey and painted that round the edges.

I had used some card to mop up some of the paints as I had been using them and I stamped the old Tim Holtz quote on some, coloured in the letters with some Pitt artist pens and edged it with ground espresso distress ink before adhering it to the panel.

Thanks for stopping by.

Listen to your HeArt
