Snowflake Joy Recipe Christmas Card Series #3

Fill your Christmas Card Box - Pt 3

Three more cards for the Christmas box using designer paper and a few simple embellishments to create a sweet but quick card. The focus for this one was using older dies and stamps and a paper pad to have a ready made background.

Ingredients

Paper pack - Trimcraft Silent Night

Dies - spellbinders rectangles and ornate trim, movers and shapers oval, snowflake.

Stamps - Framelits Holiday Joy, Letter to Santa

Distress inks - ground espresso, bundled sage

Archival ink - watering can

Method

Cut background card and belly band border ink edges with ground espresso. Cut oval stamp with greenery and joy

Die-cut frame, ornate trim and snowflake from gold card .....

.... and assemble. I used small foam pads on the frame and thicker ones on the joy oval to create dimension and interest. I even experimented with turning the card on the side, it worked well although I couldn't fit the ornate trim on.

Some of my close friends are not into the vintage, grungy styles I like and this was a refreshing change to make for them. Three more for the box and minimum postage - yay.

MAWTT Challenge 91 - Precious metals

Hi Everyone

Before I start on my project if anyone is going to the NEC on Sunday and would like to say hello, just leave me a message below. It would be great to meet fellow crafters in person.

This week at MAWTT it is my turn to host the challenege and I have chosen the theme 'Precious Metals'. I would like to see any project that includes a precious metal and the best-known precious metals are the coinage metals gold and silver and another is platinum.

I have chosen silver as the precious metal for my project, which is a page from a memories book I am making. When finished it will be for the wedding Ken and I are going to in Cyprus so that Richard and Sal can record the occasion. When I asked Sal what colour she would like she chose hot pink.

This page has the TH bird and cage made in embossed silver card and I covered the bird with black acrylic paint and rubbed some of it off so that it showed up more. As you can see my colour palette includes pink, silver, black, grey and white. Tucked in behind the the bird cage mount are three tags on which wedding guests will write a short message and I will include some photo and journalling mats for Sal to complete later.

Additional silver includes the corner mount, silver beads at the bottom of the cage and a silver chain and small silver key.

Quick card for a man

Hi everyone

I am still visiting my Mum in hospital twice a day, so it is having an effect on the amount of time I have to design new cards, however I am working on one that should be finished tomorrow. I thought that for today I would post a simple card that I made recently that could easily be given to a man - so many of mine are very feminine and this is something completely different.

This really won't take very long to make and consists of a piece of green card, two patterned papers, dark green paper and some matt silver card. The papers have been cut into strips and layered. I used a pre-printed sentiment and a flourish which was heat embossed.
Eh voila, done!

Challenge sites are becoming a big thing for me and I am loving the way they help me to channel my thoughts and creativity into new designs. There is a whole new world that has opened up for me which I have never had time to explore before, and what wonderful inspiration I have found, just absoluely fabulous. I hope you visit again to see what else I am doing.
