Wish and Dream Panels with Tim Holtz Spritzes

I picked up 2 small panels that have been hanging around on a shelf for ages, they both had a thin layer of gesso or texture paste scraped over them and were begging to be picked up and used.. I dipped them in some left over walnut stain distress ink I had been using and put them near the window to dry whilst I carried on with another project.

I heard the postman deliver some post through the letterbox and was excited to find the new Tim Holtz Spritzes I had ordered had been delivered and I did no more than unpack and shake them and gave each one a spray on some very small pieces of card and put them aside to dry. There were some little splatters of the sprays from each bottle left on my craft mat and I dipped my two little panels in them so as not to waste any. They remained on the shelf until the next morning and I just gathered some bits from my collage packets and hey presto these appeared.

I added some more splatters of the Spritz and some slatters of white paint to finish them off.

Seaside theme - Country View Crafts and Tim Holt products 2024

For a new challenge at County View Crafts Challenges 'All Things Seaside' on FaceBook I've used a clipboard as the substrate for my project and created a fairly flat collage so that the clipboard can be used.

The board was painted with Haystack and stamped with Buff PaperArtsy chalky acrylics. I used one of Tim's ledger stamps.

Then over this I created a collage.

Make Me Smile

 A birthday card

This is for Country View Crafts Challenge for May which is about using an amusing sentiment or image on a project. This wasn't an easy task for me as I don't really have anything amusing I could use but I found the sentiment on the internet and it made me smile, so it's now part of a birthday card for someone. Oh yes I have that someone in mind! :o)

I used a panel from a Stamperia pad and added other bits and pieces to collage it all together ie Tim Holtz Snippets and his film strip ribbon as well

The red blossom behind the girls had almost disappeared behind them so I used the distress watercolor pencils to add more. The sentiment is computer generated.

Watercolour painting with Distress Watercolor Pencils on Botanical Collage Tissue Paper

A second project for Country View Challenges on FaceBook and the theme for  April is still Flower Power

I have created another panel for my Distres Watercolour Pencils (DWPs) Sketchbook.

I used an old Tim Holtz die called 'File Tabs' to cut the top of a piece of white card and adhered a piece of the botanical tissue paper with decoupage matte glue. Using a water brush the images and background were painted with the distress watercolour pencils using both a palette and taking colour direct from the pencils themselves.

I altered the photobooth picture of the lady using the DWPs so that it reflected the colours of the flowers and berries and helped her to look as though she belonged on the  panel. As the surface of the photo was shiny the watercolours didn't want to blend and lay on the surface so I gave it a coat of matte medium first.

The little collage adds interest and completes the panel. It also uses a number of Tim Holtz products.

Flower Collage Dandelion Seed Head

Hand Drawn Flower displayed with collage

Workshop Country View Crafts 2023 Deconstruct - Reconstruct

I am playing catch up keeping a record here of the samples I created for my workshop last year.

This is Flower Collage 1, it is actually a Dandelion seed head (clock).

We started  by looking at photos of the Dandelion clock and carefully unpicked the structure of the flower drawing each piece of it individually.

I then sketched and inked up the picture....

... and made a distress ink background and drew it again and painted in the leaves using the distress inks.

Finally I created the collage around it and displayed it in a black paper art book.

I have several more of these to come as I made lots of samples to give the participants a variety of collages as inspiration for putting theirs together.

Watercolour Play Album - Birch Trees

I had watched a video of someone painting Birch trees and I really wanted to have a go. I found a photo on-line but neither the bases nor the tops of the trees were included, it was a mid-shot.

I took some time observing the tree trunks and trying to get a feel of the bark and I wanted to give a suggestion of some landscape around them.

I added some grasses at the bottom of the painting which then became the bases of the trees! I realised, when I'd finished, this didn't work as I had them all lined up like soldiers. Realistically they would be separated out as they must have been if we'd actually seen the bases of the trees themselves in the photo. The perspective is all wrong! - a learning curve to check out in the future.

But I still like the feel of the painting and am quite pleased with the tree trunks.

Watercolour painting with Distress Watercolor Pencils

Coneflower or Echinacea

Set up with under drawing on smooth watercolour paper and pink colours mixed on my palette.

Wet on wet using the pink colours and clean water. I'm not yet at a stage where I can mix colours on a brush to achieve variations so I use different brush for each colour and mix with water. This was left to dry naturally as I didn't want the colours moved about more by drying with a heat gun.

As each layer progressed so the painting emerged ......

I finished off my painting by using black Uni-Ball pens to outline and add some squiggles for more interest.

If you are here visiting me, thank you for stopping by.
