A small offering from me today but a burlap panel that worked out better than I imagined in my head. I am adding this to Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #6 which is all about using Tim's burlap panels. You can find Tim's version on P.37 of his book, but this is my version using texture paste, stamps and distress paints.
I started with the panel, some texture paste and picket fence distress paint and I stamped a small text stamp lightly over the top. I also edged with walnut stain distress ink.
I gathered and made the elements I wanted to use including the knife, fork and spoon from Tim’s Nature Walk set of stamps. The little feather is a spellbinders die that Astrid let me die-cut when she came down to stay and go to Ally Pally last year – thank you Astrid.
The chipboard shape is one from a Maya Road set I have and I distress painted it with antiqued bronze, dried it and then some frayed burlap, dried it and then mottled picket fence using the dabber and a babywipe.
The cutlery set were stamped in black archival on silver card, cut out and tied with some distressed ribbon…..
…. and I finished by using some letter gross grain type ribbon, chit chat stickers and label letters to create the saying.
I expect we will be seeing some of the planes coming in for Farnborough Air Show next week, I live virtually under the flight path and it’s an incredible feeling watching and hearing the jets going over the house, especially when they have engines at full blast – you can almost feel the heat from them. I am looking forward to going to the show on the 19th July - anyone else going at all?
Have a great creative week and hopefully we will see some more sunshine in the UK.
hugs Brenda xx

A gorgeous panel Brenda, love the neutral colour tones x
Lovely piece, the burlap panel gives it such a rustical feeling. Have fun with the flight show! I live near the airport here, see planes landing and starting every day, sometimes too many! Valerie
Love this panel and the way you have done the cutlery. we get the planes from the displays turning over us and the Red Arrows are the best for me. I do miss Concorde coming over. xx
What a fun piece Brenda, the cutlery are so ususual and work so well. Great textures too. I loved making the burlap panels at your workshop, they have pride of place hanging in my studio. Enjoy seeing the planes, we're off to Hampton Ct on Thursday xx
Wonderful! Love the walk through of your process. I bought some of these panels to make three Xmas burlap canvas...may have to rethink that and try something for all year round!
A great panel Brenda - when I saw the small image on the bloglovin feed my first reaction was a dinner invitation! It looks so much better up close :-) enjoy the airshow, my dad occasionally went to that one back in the days when he worked (air traffic control/airport management) I'll be up a mountain hopefully enjoying sunshine so fingers crossed we all get a good day!

Great project Brenda the cutlery is amazing!
Ive never been to that particular airshow but have attended others. I love the jets and envy your close proximity! My favourite & one I miss, is the iconic Jump jet.... I'm sure when it bowed to the audience it was just for me! :-)

They have just finished the airshow here in Lincoln, our house is were they turn round to go back to Waddington. My friend lives even closer and we were at their house for a barbeque on Saturday, I think the Red Arrow pilots were trying to join us they were so close, it's lovely to see them.

Brenda...your altered burlap canvas is beautiful! I love how you've created such a lovely piece using the silverware with the distressed ribbon wrapped around it.
