Take Flight Notebook

Remember the grungy notebook I shared a couple of days ago? Well this was a follow up one to show how using the same steps and techniques a completely different look can be achieved. 

Boards for covers - Create mega crackle layers by checking out Andy Skinner's mega crackle video you'll be able to create your own boards with whatever colours you like. I finished the edges with potting soil and black archival inks.

My embellishments ...............

Butterflies - the large one, left over from workshop trial,  had some distress embossing powder on, the smaller one didn't. They were covered in dark grey v.3 and dried then dipped in watery cerulean blue and dried. Repeated with a dip in prussian blue, phthalo green-yellow, green gold and finally a mix of titanium white/quinacridone gold/paynes grey. They were sanded, inked, flicked with water and sanded again. I love the way the distress embossing is revealed with the last sand on the larger one.

The small frame and arrow were given the burnt umber, paynes grey and quinacridone gold treatment until I was happy with the rusty effects. The backing piece is a sizzix die-cut and embossing folder combo painted with prussian blue mixed with tinting base and rubbed over with brown distress ink. The central piece is a left over scrap with remnant rubs used to create the saying.

The globe was dipped, dabbed and dried using sap green, quinacridone gold and titan buff with some Prussian blue and cerulean blue dabbed on some of the gridded pieces. The circular edge was sanded and blended with ground espresso DI.
