A tag post at A Vintage Journey

As a brand new challenge blog A Vintage Journey is not yet into it’s full cycle of posts. Alternate Fridays will have the new challenge go live and the following week will announce the winners of the previous challenge, but as there are no winners yet we are sharing a special post which we have called Tag Friday
P1160411
My tag is one that I actually made the background for last year and didn’t get finished. It involved masking off the images and stamping over, building up a collage of a number of stamps on which I added some tissue tape. That’s where I left it. So I decided it should be finished and published. I had already started to embellish before I realised I hadn’t taken a photo of just the background. It was made using shabby shutters and tumbled glass distress paints, dipping and dabbing until I liked the blended colours.

The stamp set is Purely Random and has this lovely little quote on it.

And as there are stamps of two people dancing (a man and a woman) I added a couple to the cash key using the Stampin’ Up 1/2 inch circle punch and a snippet from the Lost and Found paper stash.

Here are the two dancers …..

The film strip has snippets from Tim’s papers (I keep all the offcuts for such purposes, the corner is from the frames and trims industrious stickers and I also added a single pointer on the clock and a number 8 with some distress paint dabbed on.

I hope you enjoy all the tags on display at A Vintage Journey and I hope you are travelling with us.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Brenda...I love your tag! That background that you started some time ago is the perfect example why we should not throw anything away! haha I love the colors and the stamped/masked images of your background. They have such a retro feeling to them. Love the additions of the filmstrip ribbon, the clock hands, the mini numeral, the type charm and the washi tape. Those things all are so "Tim" and all work together so perfectly! Your sentiment....perfect, too! <3 Candy

  20. Brenda I love everything about this tag. It hearkens back to a time that was so important to our history. I love the clothing the man and woman are wearing. Your background colors are so beautiful. It's hard to pick out a favorite part of the tag, but I love the sentiment. Can you tell me what company makes that stamp set? I really am enjoying the Vintage Journey. All of the designers are doing spectacular work. You all are gifted artists. Thanks for sharing your work with us --- auntkit@comcast.net

  44. Just had to smile at the thought that I'm not the only one with unfinished projects lying around. Glad you decided to finish tis one. It is amazing with all of the masking and addition of the tissue tape. Tim's filmstrip was the perfect embellishment for it. Love how you used the paper snippets with it. Tag Friday sounds like lots of fun. I love all of the DT makes. Great ideas!! Mary Elizabeth
