This is my first effort and because it went totally wrong I guess I’ll be trying another one soon. To see Tim’s tag and all the details as to how he made it pop over to his blog to be amazed. Once you’ve seen the process for the background then you’ll understand what went wrong and what I’ve done to this to salvage it.
This is Tim’s tag.

I used Willow for the first layer and then blending solution and Lettuce through the stencils. Although it isn’t what I set out to achieve I do like the results and carried on using it to make a cover for a sketch book.
The leaves were given the same treatment as Tim’s butterflies.
Stamps used – Bird Feather, Thankful Silhouettes, Classics #17.
Strip die – Autumn Gatherings
Another great tag from Tim and more techniques to add to our tool box to use.
Thanks for stopping by today, have a great week.
hugs Brenda xxx

ReplyDeleteHm, Brenda, no matter how hard I look, I cannot see where you went wrong (but then I have not studied Tim's technique in detail yet)... I absolutely adore the finished result on your notebook cover, I love the colours, lay out and textures you used and the end result is wonderful, in fact I like it a lot better than Tim's original tag...
ReplyDeleteAlthough it went wrong I do love your cover!

I always thought that there was no 'wrong' in creating art.

Brenda your book cover looks fabulous! The background is great and the autumnal colours are beautiful. Maybe not what you intended but the end result is beautiful. Sue C x
ReplyDeleteNow I am with Astrid on his one. Tim, I love you dearly and your ideas are fab, but on this occasion Brenda has done it better! Great background and collaged book cover. Hoping to give the technique a go myself soon, have limited alcohol inks so goodness knows where mine will end up! See you later. Nikki xxx
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love that you made it into a notebook cover. I think its absolutely perfect!!! Loved the birdy on the burlap ribbon and the autumny leaves are to die for. You have created something divinely awesome here. Also wanted to come by and say a huge thank you for faithfully stopping over at my blog and always leaving such lovely comments! You make my day - always!
ReplyDeleteWell, I only see what you did right...this is gorgeous!

It may not be what you hoped to achieve Brenda but it is gorgeous! I just popped over to see what Sir Tim of the Holtz had created and his tag is stunning but so is this. I do love to see what very talented crafters make from errors - it gives me hope that I might be able to repair some of my mistakes in the future Karen x
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteAll of your projects look amazing! I don't see anything wrong with the journal, it's beautiful.
I love the green colors that you used.
Peace,

Even if it dod not turn out like you visualized, it is still fabulous! I like the lettuce for the stencilled colour...it has a bit of a pop to it.
